What is the After School Academy?
The After School Learning Academy is a small group tutoring program based on several academic factors.  Student PARCC data, STAR Renaissance data, grade level expectations, and teacher recommendations.  Students who are recommended for the Learning Academy will receive small group instruction on a designated day from a certified classroom teacher.  During this time, students will work on content area skills in Literacy or Math in order to excel in the classroom and on assessments.  This is the Academy's third year and we look forward to another successful year!

FAQS (Frequently Asked Questions)
How do I put my child in the Academy?
Since Academy recommendations are based on several types of assessment data as well as teacher input, no parent is able to "recommend" their child for such services. However, all inquiries will be considered.

How long does the Academy run for?
The Learning Academy runs on 8 week cycles.  We meet on Mondays and Thursdays from 3:15-4:15. When a cycle finishes, new recommendations can occur and a new cycle begins again.

Is there time for homework?
The Academy is primarily a tutoring program which focuses on skills taught in the classroom.

Can my child change their tutoring day if they have a prior commitment?
Unfortunately, due to limited staff and other available days during the week, the assigned day is the only day your child can be serviced.  No alternative days can be assigned.
